The Hampstead Scientific Society Observatory is one of the few places left in London open to the public for regular viewings of the Moon, planets and other night-time objects. We open on Fridays and Saturdays from October to April when the skies are clear. The building dates from 1910 and the public can view the night skies through our 1870s 6″ Cooke refractor – both a beautiful historical artefact and a high quality optical instrument – as well as modern telescopes.
