The University of Central Lancashire, with its 25 years of experience, offers part-time distance learning courses in astronomy. We specialize in providing online credit-bearing University courses in astronomy and related fields at the undergraduate level, offering you the flexibility to study this exciting field from the comfort of your home.
Our courses, which start from September and run through May each year, begin with standalone University Certificates, designed for individuals with little or no prior knowledge of the subject. In the academic year 2025-26, these will include an Introduction to Astronomy, an Introduction to Cosmology, and the Sun, Earth, and Climate.
We also offer more advanced courses that build on the University Certificates. We offer a well-structured and comprehensive curriculum designed for lifelong learners. This includes the six-module Certificate in Higher Education in Astronomy and the full IOP-recognised BSc (Hons) Astronomy degree. Additionally, there are opportunities for self-funded postgraduate research, including Master’s and PhD programs.
Please visit our stand at Astrofest to discuss the opportunities available to you or contact us via the links above. Please remember to tell us that you saw us at Astrofest 2025!
