Patrick was the keynote speaker and conference co-chairman of the very first European AstroFest in 1992, twenty years later he was still going strong signing autographs and inspiring new generations of astronomers as he toured the exhibition. Ill health hindered Patrick's mobility, but not his boundless enthusiasm. His attitude was always "the show must go on" and in recent years he climbed the steps to the AstroFest stage riding atop a caterpillar tracked machine he quickly christened the "Mars rover". Patrick will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. Here are some of our favourite photographs of Patrick at AstroFest.
