About Ian Ridpath
Ian Ridpath is a writer and broadcaster on astronomy and space. His trio of handbooks for beginners -- Collins Stars & Planets Guide, Collins Gem Stars, and The Monthly Sky Guide -- have been in print for over 25 years. Ian is editor of the authoritative Oxford Dictionary of Astronomy and Norton’s Star Atlas. One of his particular interests is the myths and origins of the constellations which he wrote about in his book Star Tales. He is a keen astro-philatelist and is chairman of the Astro-Space Stamp Society. In 2012 he received the Astronomical Society of the Pacific’s Klumpke-Roberts Award for “outstanding contributions to the public understanding and appreciation of astronomy”. Ian has been conference organizer of AstroFest since 2003.
About Iain Nicolson
Iain Nicolson is a writer and lecturer on astronomy and space science. Author of more than twenty books, he has also contributed chapters and entries to a wide variety of books and encyclopaedias, and has written hundreds of magazine articles. A consultant to Astronomy Now, he has been associated with the magazine since its foundation in 1987 and has been chairing AstroFest since 1996. Over the years, he has been a frequent contributor to BBC television’s The Sky at Night. He did his degree in physics at the University of St Andrews and subsequently became Principal Lecturer in Astronomy at the University of Hertfordshire. In 2011 he was awarded a Fellowship of the University for his contributions to the public understanding of astronomy.
